About The Virus

In The Beginning

At first, it was some sort of devastating flu virus that the government allegedly had knowledge of but chose not to disclose to the public. By the time the virus was made known to civilians, it was already too late for adequate preparation, and there was no vaccine available.

The virus initially spread through Australia and quickly made its way from country to country. While some individuals managed to survive the virus and return to normal health, unfortunately, there were also those who succumbed to its effects. As time went on, the virus evolved, becoming more resilient and exhibiting strange characteristics.

Social distancing measures were implemented to prevent further transmission. However, as the situation grew more dire, panic began to set in among the population. Reports of people attacking one another became increasingly common, fueled by a lack of trust and fear of being in close proximity to anyone displaying even the slightest signs of illness.

In response to the escalating chaos, the government declared martial law. Strict curfews were enforced, requiring everyone to be indoors by 5 p.m. Those who violated the curfew were promptly arrested. Additionally, individuals with registered weapons were ordered to surrender them to the nearest police station. Non-compliance resulted in SWAT teams raiding the homes of offenders, confiscating their weapons, and charging them with illegal possession. Flights between countries were canceled, and roadblocks were established to restrict movement in and out of specific cities and states.

After numerous attempts, scientists and doctors finally developed a vaccine that appeared to treat the infected individuals effectively. People began to regain their vitality, and a sense of hope returned. As a result, roadblocks were lifted, allowing movement between states and cities. Flights resumed, and the grounding of planes was no longer necessary. Martial law was lifted, and jobs were gradually reopening, signaling a return to normalcy.

However, just as life seemed to be getting back on track, a new threat emerged. There are two levels of infection: the Medical Infection and the Physical Infection. The Medical Infection, caused by the Schism virus, initially presented symptoms such as fevers, cold sweats, dry throat, coughing, and severe dehydration. A treatment was developed, and those who took the medication experienced a swift recovery almost overnight. Society began to rebuild itself as jobs reopened and schools welcomed back students.

Unexpectedly, a disturbing development unfolded as people started mysteriously dying in their sleep without any prior signs of illness. However, these individuals did not truly die, as they would eventually awaken as bloodthirsty creatures driven by a newfound hunger for human flesh.

Physical Infection, on the other hand, is transmitted through various means such as bites, scratches, blood injections, or sexual contact.

Schism to Aegis

Step-by-Step: The Schism Virus and Aegis Vaccine

  • 1. Schism Virus Emergence: The Schism virus emerges as a new strain of flu, initially causing mild symptoms such as fever, cough, and fatigue. However, it quickly mutates, becoming more virulent and capable of evading the immune system.

  • 2. Enhanced Virulence: Over time, the Schism virus gains the ability to target specific cell types in the body, including immune cells. This compromises the host's ability to fight off the infection effectively. The virus starts triggering excessive inflammation, damaging various organs.

  • 3. Cellular Disruption: The Schism virus begins to disrupt the cellular machinery of infected individuals. It affects DNA repair mechanisms, leading to mutations in various cells, including those responsible for maintaining vital bodily functions.

  • 4. Random Cell Death: As the virus spreads and replicates, it causes random cell death throughout the body. This leads to organ failure, with affected individuals experiencing symptoms such as internal bleeding, neurological disorders, and cardiac arrest.

  • 5. Aegis Vaccine Development: Scientists develop the Aegis vaccine in response to the Schism virus. The vaccine contains advanced nanotechnology designed to repair damaged cells and restore normal cellular functions.

  • 6. Cell Regeneration Process: The Aegis vaccine is administered to individuals infected with the Schism virus. The nanotechnology in the vaccine targets damaged cells, repairs DNA, and triggers cellular regeneration. This process is successful in saving many lives and reversing the damage caused by the virus.

  • 7. Unintended Consequences: However, in some cases, the interaction between the Schism virus and the Aegis vaccine leads to an unforeseen reaction. Instead of restoring normal cellular functions, the combination triggers an abnormal cellular growth pattern, resulting in a reanimation of the deceased cells.

  • 8. Soulless Effect: Those individuals who succumb to the combination of the Schism virus and the Aegis vaccine experience a sort of "Soulless" effect. Their bodies regain a semblance of movement, but they lack cognitive function and higher brain activity. These reanimated individuals exhibit aggressive behavior and an insatiable hunger for living flesh.

8 Levels of Infections

  • Level 1. Once infected by bite, scratch, or any other blood crossing from infected to non-infected, the first symptom is itching at or around the infected area.

  • Level 2. Coughing, fever, and shortness of breath.

  • Level 3. Coughing up blood and becoming weak.

  • Level 4. Fainting and cold sweats along with vomiting and nose bleeds.

  • Level 5. The body begins to paralyze, starting with the area(s) of infection, then spreading out from there.

  • Level 6. Fall into a coma.

  • Level 7. Body organs start to fail.

  • Level 8. Death.

3 Phases of Death

•   Phase 1: Rout. The state of wild confusion.

The Soulless becomes very confused and is at it's slowest, weakest stage. At this point, the Soulless could barely stand, because their bodies contain too much infected blood, so much that if the Soulless does not get any fresh blood in due time, their bodies will continue to deteriorate more and more rapidly. The Soulless will enter a vegetable stage but, will not die from the lack of blood.

•   Phase 2: Rove. The habit of wondering and roaming.

Still very slow and confused, but after drinking a paint of blood, this stage is reached and the Soulless are now able to see better, hear, stand and smell better. But, still very weak, clumsy and deteriorating.

•   Phase 3: Ruffian. The Soulless become brutal.

At this phase, the Soulless, gains the ability to walk without constantly tripping to the ground. Their smell of blood is enhanced. Fresh blood can be sniffed out at about 50 open yards and the Soulless can smell flesh from about 25 yards out.. The Soulless become faster, the more blood it consumes. They become more aggressive with pulling on people and objects. They begin to grunt more and fiend for more fresh blood.

Types In Between

These will set inside of stages, causing them to become different from others.

Example:

Stage 1. Shuffler

The shuffler walks very light, barely picking up its feet. In short, if your not paying attention, they will sneak up on you.

Stage 1. Prawler

A prawler enjoys a good hunt.

Stage 1. Screamer

Alerts the location of protentual prey.

Stage 1. Aggressor

Always want the prey for itself. Shuves other undead away to eat alone.

10 stages of Soulless

Stage 1: Marked by sluggish movements, dulled intellect, and feeble strength, those in the initial stage, known as the Soulless, often stumble over their own feet or fail to lift them adequately, resulting in frequent trips to the ground. Their physical decay accelerates due to insufficient consumption of fresh blood.

Stage 2: Progressing slightly in speed and intelligence, individuals in this stage witness fragments of light piercing through their previously obscured vision. Despite these improvements, their clumsiness remains a prominent feature.

Stage 3: Malignant: Aptly named for its harmful nature, at this stage, individuals master the art of walking without stumbling. Their sense of smell for blood intensifies, enabling them to detect it from approximately 100 yards away.

Stage 4: Displaying increased speed and aggression, the Soulless becomes more assertive in acquiring their prey.

Stage 5: Transitioning to a pace resembling jogging, these power walkers gain the ability to smell flesh from 50 to 75 yards away, akin to a Blood Hound dog, tracking their targets once the scent is detected.

Stage 6: Growing more strategic, they can now jog, identify the vulnerable, and discern easy prey, distinguishing between a muscular 250 lbs. man and more vulnerable targets like children or overweight individuals. They develop the intelligence to push obstacles aside.

Stage 7: Perfidious: Meaning treacherous, those at this stage exhibit the ability to run, leap, and violently overcome obstacles in their path.

Stage 8: Perception: Evolving to comprehend their surroundings, individuals develop the intelligence to manipulate knobs, push-pull open doors, and communicate through grunts.

Stage 9: Approaching the cleverness of their living past, the Soulless refines their feeding technique, opting for a blood-drinking bite instead of removing large chunks of flesh. Cooperation as a unit becomes part of their learned behavior.

Stage 10: The second death.

Unregistered Abilities

Apex Stage 11: Mavin: Designated as an expert, those reaching this pinnacle transform into vampires, gaining additional abilities.

Harmless

There will be higher stages that the Soulless may reach in the "Types In Between" section.

Example:

Stage 1. of the Shuffler will advance to

Stage 2. Creeper.

It hides and remain quiet until it attacks. This will develope in more advanced undead.

Stage 3. Horder.

They hide their captured prey from plain view.

Infection

A cut is a damaged area of skin that usually results from some form of trauma. A cut can appear anywhere on the body.

When germs get into the sensitive tissues beneath our skin via the cut, the cut may become infected. An infection can develop any time between two or three days after the cut occurs until it’s visibly healed.

Read on to learn how to identify an infected cut and what you can do to treat and prevent this condition.

How to identify an infected cut

An uninfected cut will gradually improve until it’s fully healed, while an infected cut becomes more painful over time.

The skin that surrounds the cut is often red and may feel hot. You’ll likely notice some swelling in the affected area. As the infection progresses, it may begin to ooze a yellowy substance called pus.

Seek immediate medical attention if you have these signs of infection:

• Redness from the infection spreads to other areas, often in streaks.

• You have aches and pains or a fever.

• You feel a general sense of malaise.

These symptoms indicate that the infection has spread.

Necrotizing fasciitis

Necrotizing fasciitis is a rare and extremely serious bacterial infection that affects the body's soft tissues, including the fascia, a connective tissue that surrounds muscles, nerves, and blood vessels. The infection progresses rapidly and can lead to tissue death (necrosis) and damage. It's often referred to as a "flesh-eating" infection due to its destructive nature.

The stages of necrotizing fasciitis can be described as follows:

1. Initial Infection: The infection usually begins with a break in the skin, such as a cut, wound, or surgical incision. Bacteria, often from the Streptococcus or Staphylococcus family, enter the body through this opening and start spreading.

2. Early Symptoms: Early symptoms may include redness, swelling, and severe pain around the infected area. The pain is often disproportionate to the size of the wound and may be more intense than expected. Fever, chills, and fatigue might also occur.

3. Rapid Progression: Necrotizing fasciitis progresses quickly. The infection spreads along the fascial planes, undermining healthy tissue. The affected area may become discolored, turning purple, black, or dark red due to tissue death and reduced blood flow.

4. Tissue Necrosis: The infection leads to tissue death and the creation of toxins that further damage surrounding tissue. The infection might create gas within the tissues, leading to a "crepitus" sensation (a crackling or popping sensation) when touched.

5. Systemic Symptoms: As the infection spreads, it can lead to systemic symptoms such as high fever, confusion, low blood pressure, and organ failure. The patient's overall condition deteriorates rapidly.

6. Critical Condition: Without prompt and aggressive medical intervention, necrotizing fasciitis can lead to severe sepsis, shock, and death.

Reversing necrotizing fasciitis requires urgent medical attention and typically involves a combination of surgical intervention and antibiotic therapy. Here's a general approach to reversing it:

1. Surgery: Immediate surgical intervention is necessary to remove the infected and dead tissue. This process is known as debridement. It helps stop the spread of the infection and prevents further tissue damage. In severe cases, amputation of affected limbs might be necessary to save the patient's life.

2. Antibiotics: Broad-spectrum antibiotics are administered intravenously to target the bacteria causing the infection. As soon as bacterial cultures identify the specific bacteria, targeted antibiotics can be used for a more effective treatment.

3. Supportive Care: Patients with necrotizing fasciitis often require intensive care support, including intravenous fluids, medications to stabilize blood pressure, and assistance with organ function.

4. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBO): In some cases, HBO therapy might be considered. This involves breathing pure oxygen in a pressurized chamber, which can help deliver oxygen to damaged tissues and support healing.

It's important to note that even with timely and aggressive treatment, the mortality rate of necrotizing fasciitis can still be high.

The symptoms of necrotizing fasciitis can vary depending on the stage of infection and the individual's overall health. It's important to note that the condition progresses rapidly and can become life-threatening, so seeking medical attention promptly is crucial if any concerning symptoms are present. Some common symptoms include:

1. Severe Pain: The pain at the site of infection can be much more intense than expected based on the size of the wound or injury. It might be described as a deep, throbbing, or burning pain that doesn't improve with over-the-counter pain medications.

2. Swelling and Redness: The affected area might become swollen, red, and warm to the touch. The skin might also appear shiny and stretched.

3. Fever and Chills: A high fever, often accompanied by chills and sweating, can indicate a serious infection.

4. Fatigue and Malaise: Feeling unusually tired, weak, and generally unwell is common in the early stages of the infection.

5. Nausea and Vomiting: Some individuals might experience nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.

6. Blisters and Skin Changes: Blisters filled with fluid might develop, and the skin might change color, becoming dark red, purple, or black due to tissue death.

7. Crepitus: In some cases, a crackling or popping sensation (crepitus) can be felt when pressing on the affected area. This is due to gas produced by bacteria in the tissues.

8. Rapid Progression: One of the most significant hallmarks of necrotizing fasciitis is its rapid progression. Symptoms can worsen in a matter of hours, and the infection can spread to adjacent areas of the body.

9. Systemic Symptoms: As the infection spreads, systemic symptoms might develop, including confusion, dizziness, low blood pressure, rapid heart rate, and altered mental state.

10. Open Wounds: If there's a pre-existing open wound or recent surgery, the infection might enter through these points.

Keep in mind that while these symptoms can be indicative of necrotizing fasciitis, they are not exclusive to this condition and could be caused by other infections or medical issues. If someone experiences symptoms that are severe, rapidly worsening, or concerning, they should seek immediate medical attention. Early diagnosis and treatment are crucial for the best possible outcome.

In reality, viral infections are a significant public health concern, and they can cause a wide range of illnesses, from the common cold to more severe diseases such as influenza and COVID-19. However, the scenario presented, including the development of a vaccine that leads to unforeseen consequences, is not based on any known scientific evidence or real-world occurrences. It's important to approach information about infectious diseases with a critical mindset and to rely on credible sources such as public health agencies and medical professionals for accurate information. While fictional narratives can be entertaining, they should not be mistaken for factual accounts of real events or scientific phenomena. If you have specific questions about viral infections or public health, it's always best to consult reliable sources such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), or other reputable medical and scientific organizations. If you have any concerns about infectious diseases or public health, it's important to seek information from credible sources and to consult with healthcare professionals for guidance and support.Sources:
